A ‘heartbroken’ Conor McGregor will be comforted with a sizeable payday after his loss against Dustin Poirier this past weekend.

Conor McGregor suffered a shock knockout by the American in Sunday’s second round at UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi.

According to The Sun, Poirier earned £730 000 (R15m) for just turning up, while McGregor bagged £3.65m (R75.6m) in the Octagon in Abu Dhabi.

Given how long the match went – 452 seconds in total – it means that McGregor earned £8 075 (over R160 000) per second in his defeat.

Meanwhile, Poirier earned £1 615 (R33 185) per second in his triumph over McGregor.
